How to Set Up EPG (TV Guide) for IPTV in MaxPlayer
A working EPG (Electronic Program Guide) turns a plain channel list into a proper TV experience — you see what is on now, what is next, and a full schedule. This guide explains how EPG works in MaxPlayer, why it sometimes shows up empty, and how to fix it.
MaxPlayer is an IPTV player — it plays your own content and displays the EPG that your provider supplies. It does not create or sell channels or guide data.
Where does the EPG come from?
The EPG is delivered by your provider, not by the player. When you add your list, MaxPlayer reads the guide data attached to it and lays it out as a schedule:
- With an M3U list, the guide usually comes from a separate XMLTV/EPG URL that your provider includes.
- With Xtream Codes, the EPG is delivered through the provider API and is usually richer and better matched to your channels.
How to get a full EPG in MaxPlayer
- Add your list in MaxPlayer (M3U URL or Xtream Codes) and let it finish loading.
- Open a channel — the guide for the current and upcoming programs appears automatically.
- Open the full TV Guide view to browse the schedule across all channels.
If your provider offers Xtream Codes, use it — it almost always gives a more complete and better-aligned guide than a plain M3U.
Why is my EPG empty?
The most common reasons an EPG is blank:
- Your provider does not include EPG data for that list — ask them for an EPG/XMLTV source, or switch to their Xtream Codes login.
- The channel names do not match the guide IDs — this is on the provider side; a healthier list usually fixes it.
- The list is still processing — give it a minute after adding a large list.
Troubleshooting quick fixes
Some channels have EPG, others do not? That is normal when the provider only maps guide data to part of the list.
Guide is a few hours off? EPG uses time offsets from the provider; a correct list resolves it.
